Haputale Tea Country

First thing in the morning we enjoyed grand views south across the lowlands from our perch at the edge of the precipice at Haputale, tea country made famous years ago by Lipton. An hour's ride up a narrow bumpy road brought us to Lipton's Seat, a fantastic viewpoint: but by the time we arrived at 9am clouds had lifted and covered much of it. But we had a glorious walk back down through rows of tea crops, past the pickers (all women), and occasional Hindu temples. Here is some of the scenery.
