Early today I got word from two friends that my old buddy Paul Weldon, the originator of the idea of "Weaselville", had passed away. I'm full of sadness, and shock, and remorse that I hadn't kept in better contact.
We met in 1990 in Garmisch, Germany, where he was Hausmeister of the Patton Hotel. We had so many good times together. Then in 1998 he was living in Breckenridge, Colorado, when I pedaled my bicycle out there to hang around for six months. He was running the Alligator Lounge and it was mad times again. Since then I hadn't seen much of him, though I made the trek out to Colorado a few years back for his surprise 40th birthday.
In honor of Paul I spent all day coding a website for people to contribute words and photos to commemorate the great man. I listened to the Temple of the Dog album, and now Mozart's Requiem. Paul is gone from the world far too soon.
